free crochet sock pattern (scroll down for pattern)
Materials needed:
Crochet socks (children’s size 2-7)
5mm crochet hook
yarn of your choice (I used a cotton yarn)
scissors
yarn needle
Terms used in this pattern:
ch = chain
sc = single crochet
sts = stitches
sc.dec = single crochet decrease
sl.st = slip stitch
PATTERN:
* ch.5
* sc in the 2nd ch from the hook
* sc in the following 3 ch’s
* sc x3 in the next ch
* working back down the other side of the chain, sc in the next 3 ch’s
* sc x3 in the next
* place a stitch marker here to know where the round ends
* sc in the next 4 sts
* sc x2 in the following 2 sts
* sc x1 in the next 4 sts
* sc x2 in the following 2 sts
* sc in the next 6 sts, sc x2 in the following 2 sts, sc in the next 6sts & sc in the following 2 sts
* sc in the next 7sts, sc x2 in the following 3sts, sc in the next 7sts, sc x3 in the following 3 sts
* sc in each st around (26)
* Repeat last round for a total of 17 rows
* ch 15 & attach with sl st in the 12th st
* sc in same st & following 14 sts
* sc in each of the ch spaces (15)
* sc in each st around (30)
* repeat last round for 23 rounds
* cl w/sl.st & fasten off
HEEL:
* reattach yarn at a corner of the heel opening & ch.1
* sc in each st around (30), ch.1
* Sc into the next 15 sts (if you’re following this pattern exactly… otherwise, you’re going to just do enough sc to get to the other corner)
* sc dec
* sc into the next 12sts
* Sc dec
* sc into the next 14 sts, sc dec, sc into the next 12, sc dec
* sc into the next 13 sts, sc dec, sc into the next 11, sc dec
* sc into the next 12 sts, sc dec, sc into the next 10, sc dec
* sc into the next 11 sts, sc dec, sc into the next 9 sc dec
* Now you will line up both sides of the gap together and close with slip stitches evenly to create a seam and fasten off
* Use a yarn needle to hide the tail ends and you’re done!!
