Free pattern and video tutorial for this crochet knot headband

using a 5mm crochet hook:
ch.17 for adult size, 15 for child size
sl.st in 1st ch.from the hook, hdc in nex ch, sl st in the next; continue to the end of the row, ch.1 & turn work
continue this pattern until you can wrap the headband almost entirely around your head (or if you’re making the headband for a gift, continue pattern until you reach 2″ less than the length you need for desired size)

sl.st.; beginning in that same corner, ch.4 and attach via sl.st. in a diagonal line back to the other side of the headband, continue to attach strands of ch. 4 in a diagonal pattern until you reach the other end. Connecting straight across matching bottom end. Secure and fasten off.
working on a separate piece:
ch.10, sc in each ch. across, ch.1 & turn
continue this pattern for 12 rows, secure w/sl. st. & fasten off
going back to your headband; pinch the zigzag chain 4’s, this should give you the look of a bow to the front of your headband.
wrap the separate piece you made around this pinched section
using your yarn needle, secure the knot and flip inside out to reveal finished product
